Blue

Blue
Oh, so lonesome for you
Why can't you be blue over me?

Blue

Oh, so lonesome for you
Tears fill my eyes 'till I can't see

3 o'clock in the mornin, here am I
Sitting here so lonely, so lonesome I could cry

Blue
Oh, so lonesome for you
Why can't you be blue over me?

Now that it's over, I realized
Those sweet words you whispered, were nothing but lies
Blue
Oh, so lonesome for you
Why can't you be blue over me?

Why can't you be blue, over me?

A little bird

Hope
"Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune--without the words,
And never stops at all,

And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.

I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me."

The sweetness of spring

Today as I was at the park, I sat down on a bench and pulled out a little container of strawberries & honey and was reminded again why spring is one of my most favorite seasons. I had seen:blossoming trees, a turtle sunning himself, goslings (baby geese) waddling after their mother, two ducks taking a nap and little boys playing baseball...yes spring is here:)

A little slice

Pizza Margherita

Ingredients
1 1/2 cup fresh tomatoes
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 clove of garlic
Combine the tomatoes, garlice and olive oil in a blender (add a little sea salt and black pepper)
1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, coarsely chopped (sprinkle on top of pizza after it is finished baking and right before serving)
1/2 pound mozzarella, sliced 1/4-inch thick
1/2 cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano (optional for sprinkling)

Pizza dough — by hand method:
1 package active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
2 1/2 to 3 cups flour plus more if necessary
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
In a large bowl, combine yeast with water, olive oil, salt, sugar and stir well to proof. After 5 minutes, add half of the flour and mix well to thoroughly incorporate. Add all remaining flour except 1/2 cup and mix well with your hands. Transfer dough to a lightly floured work surface and knead dough for at least 5 and up to 7 minutes, adding enough additional flour as necessary to form a smooth and elastic dough. Dough should not be sticky. Transfer dough to a lightly oiled 2 or 3 quart bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with a damp towel and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, usually at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 500 degrees F and if you have one, place a pizza stone on the bottom rack of the oven.

Shape dough as desired and roll out to a thickness of 1/4-inch. Transfer dough to a pizza stone and let rest for 15 min.

Bake pizza for 10 min. or until the mozzarella is bubbly. Sprinkle the basil and optional Parmigiano-Reggiano.

Color & Whimsy found on the screen

A friend just loaned me season #1 of a show called Pushing Daisies. The first episode I saw and it completely captured my attention. When my friend was describing this show, she had the best words for it "whimsical", "colorful" and "quaint". I have found that to be true; the show thus far is delightful and it makes me eager to turn push the button and see what might happen with these characters.

This little light of mine

Recently I bought a lamp that I was very excited about placing in a part of the room that got very little light. The first evening I saw that light on I just felt cozier. Lighting in ones' home can change the feel and atmosphere of a room. The store Anthropologie has some very beautiful lamps and styles of lighting. Maybe it will give you some ideas for your home:)

A little tulip in your life

"The temple bell stops but I still hear the sound coming out of the flowers". ~Basho

"Flowers... are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty outvalues all the utilities of the world". ~Ralph Waldo Emerson, 1844

Tulips are one of my most favorites flowers. I love how simple they are and that they need no extra adorning to make them more beautiful... oh and they look like a little tea cup nature made. I remember once seeing a little boy who had dragged the garden hose over to fill up one of his mother's tulip with water. I'm sad to say the tulip's petals all fell off but it was the most adorable sight to see.

Brown

The color brown seems so normal when you just glance at it. It doesn't have the pizzaz like orange or the eye catching ability like red but brown has a richness to it. (Photos courtesy of: www.weheartit.com)

Simple Foods

I so enjoy food and when I heard these lines from the movie Julie & Julia where Julia Child's husband asks her "What is it you like to do?" and she responds enthusiastically "Eat!" I thought "Me too!" I like strawberries, fresh basil, fish tacos, french fries, gelato, roast beef...the list is very long:) There are times though when something very simple, like a bowl of granola on a sunny morning tastes very good and maybe a part of that is because it's so simple.

UP

A few days ago at 7:30 in the morning, I happened to look out the window and much to my surprise and delight I saw a bright, red, hot air balloon slowly floating by. I kept watching it until it was out of my sight. It made me smile.
The next morning do you know what happened? The same exact thing. I had to laugh because it was such a nice surprise the first time but a second time? I have never been in a hot air balloon but one day...I think I will put that on my wish list:)

Brothers & Sisters

I just recently came back from seeing all my siblings in Florida. My beautiful sister and her husband opened up their home to the whole clan and one huge german shepherd (who by the way, when you would say "squirrel!" he would perk up his ears and go rushing off to see where this elusive squirrel was:). I had such a wonderful time; the days went by to quickly. I love the loudness of my family when we are laughing or telling stories. I love that we love food so we either make good food or find good food. I love how my little niece would race around in her little walker (it is a good thing she has 16 more years to learn how to drive) I love that even in our oddities we still care for one another, And most of all...I love that they are my family. I am a lucky woman.

Pink

Pink has always been my favorite color...I know it seems so girly and so typical and when i was a teenager I tried changing it to something "cool" like aquamarine or red but I would secretly always come back to pink. Well I am now 28 and pink is still my favorite color and I'm thinking it probably won't change. Oh and just so you know even though pink is my favorite color I wouldn't paint my house pink or drive a pink car:)

Photos of the Day

One of my most favorite things is to pick up my camera and see what it can capture in a split second. I hope that each time I click that shutter I will become a better photographer, see more expressions, and find more beauty in the ordinary.
